What is an ISO Company?

An ISO Company processes credit cards for Merchants using a processing “Gateway” (such as the online gateways Authorize.net, or ArgoFire, or an in-store terminal) and a top-tier “Processor” (such as FirstData, Heartland, and others).  As there are so many Merchants in the world, Processors as well as credit card companies (such as Visa/MasterCard) rely on the ISO Companies to handle the Merchants.
